Energy Provider Home PageChallenge: Two energy companies merged. This meant they would now be offering service to both residential and commercial customers in multiple states for gas, electricity and in some cases both. Each of these customer groups needed to go through a different sales process. Neither original company was having much success with online enrollment.

Solution: A new web site was built that made it easy for visitors to quickly find the correct offer they were supposed to see. The online enrollment process was also streamlined as much as possible while still meeting all regulatory requirements. Unique landing pages were created for each offline and online campaign which further cut the number of steps from hitting the site to completing enrollment.

Tracking and analysis were use to continually increase the percentage of visitors who enrolled online.

Bottom Line: Online sales generated 33% of total revenue for the first two quarters after the merger.

Consulting Home PageChallenge: An energy consulting firm was trying to bring in more clients and more business.

Solution: A small series of reports and white papers were created on current problems being faced by the industry. Articles that gave an overview of the white paper topic were placed in industry publications, both in print and online. A link to a specific landing page where they could purchase the report was provided at the end of each article. Each purchased report included a free one-hour phone consultation to answer any questions about the article. The landing pages and the receipt page after purchasing the report online included links to other relevant services the firm provided.

Bottom Line: Tens of thousands of dollars worth of reports were sold. Because we knew the people who purchased reports were interested in certain topics, we were able to present very specific offers that resulted in bringing in over a dozen very lucrative engagements from the phone consultations and online links.
